The Mount Shasta Foundation was established in April 1989 as a nonprofit, educational and charitable organization incorporated in the state of California. Its purpose is to promote activities and programs of various types which would enrich the spiritual, cultural, and moral values of the general public. Since its inception, the Foundation has co-sponsored the First and Second International Symposium on Vedic Astrology; the First San Francisco Bay Area Regional Conference on Vedic Astrology; co-founded with Dr. B.V. Raman the American Council on Vedic Astrology; sponsored concerts of sacred cross-cultural world music; social welfare activities for Mount Shasta area Native American residents; the Mount Shasta Botanical Gardens Project; the Mount Shasta Health Consortium projects; and the Shasta Center for Universal Peace.
On Labor Day, September 7, 1998, we were graced with the visit of a very distinguished guest from India, Swami Nirvanananda, who was a close monastic disciple of Sri Ma Anandamayee for more than 40 years. This was his first visit to the United States, and we were fortunate to be able to host his visit.

The Swami visited Lower Panther Meadows and other sites on Mount Shasta, and then performed a special puja, or consecration ceremony, to bless the land which we have just purchased in the Lake Shastina area. In the evening, satsang, devotional singing, and prasadam was shared by local devotees. Swamiji spoke about some of his personal experiences with the great saint Sri Ma Anandamayee, and expressed interest in returning to the Mount Shasta area in his next visit. Overall, it was a very special occasion, and we hope to be able to sponsor additional visits of Swamiji and other spiritual teachers to the Mount Shasta area.

In 2002 and 2004, The Mount Shasta Foundation sponsored the visit of Master Yu Tian-Jian to the San Francisco Bay Area. Master Yu is considered to be a Living Buddha, and is the lineage holder of the Hanmi School of Chinese Tantric Buddhism.

In 2005 the Foundation assisted in the establishment of the Green Yoga Association as an independent, nonprofit organization. The Green Yoga Association is dedicated to fostering ecological consciousness, reverence, and action in the Yoga community".
In December 2006 The Mount Shasta Foundation hosted the visit of Feng Shui Master, Dr. Jes T.Y. Lim , to San Francisco, California. Dr. Lim is the Founder and Director of the Qi-Mag International Institute of Feng Shui and Geo-Biology, the world's largest Feng Shui college, with over 40,000 students worldwide. He delivered three evening lectures and an all-day workshop on the topic of "Taoist Spiritual Qigong and Karmic Healing", to a receptive and enthusiastic audience.
We have more exciting programs planned for 2007, and we hope that you will continue to find our programs and activities of interest and value in the coming year.
With best wishes for the New Year,
